Mothers walk the ramp

Fortis Hospital celebrated Mother’s Day in a novel way by organising a fashion show for the mothers and would-be mothers at the local Ishmeet Singh Music Academy.
Over 30 mothers walked the ramp with aplomb wearing western and ethnic wear. Judges for the fashion show included Dr Narjeet Kaur, chairperson working women forum and Dr Varinder Kaur Thind, Director, college Development, GHG Colleges Sadhar. A ramp walk for children was also organised on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vaneet Kaur, Senior Consultant, outlined various efforts the department had undertaken in the past one and a half years to improve the quality of obstetric services being offered to the women of Ludhiana.
She emphasised the need to educate the women regarding the advantages of normal delivery versus cesarean. She stressed on continuing pregnancy till the completion of 9 months in the absence of any complications.
Dr Poonam Rastogi, senior consultant, said the department takes regular antenatal classes to educate the pregnant women regarding care, nutrition, breast feeding and exercise during pregnancy.
Dr Ashwani Singal, senior consultant and head, Newborn Services, stressed the need for choosing appropriate place of delivery keeping in view the risk to the baby and the availability of facilities to deal with all emergencies.
