Reportedly, she will be playing the role of Chitrangada, a renowned actress in the Bengali film industry. The film will chronicle her journey of how her acting career comes to a halt once her sexual orientation becomes the talk of the town.

Mumtaz shared, “It’s a film on the third gender. The topic is a bit risky. If the movie is not made properly then the result will be a complete mess. I was a bit tensed about how the story would be knitted. The character of Chitrangada is difficult to portray. Actresses usually do not play such roles. Many even wondered why I had agreed to do such a role.”

She added, “I always try to do roles, which are different and out of the box. After I had gone through the script, I was mesmerized. I couldn’t find one single reason for which I could say no. I would rather say that I am really excited about the project, but I am also a bit anxious as this is not the character of a typical heroine,” she signed off.
