Palpreet Singh Brar who made it to the NBA D-League was honoured by the Ludhiana Basketball Association at Guru Nanak Stadium today.
He is the second Indian player to make it to the NBA after Satnam Singh Bhamra, said Teja Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary, Punjab Basketball Association.
He graduated from SCD Government College here, and trained with the Ludhiana Basketball Academy since 2010 and is a part of the national basketball team.
Recalling memories, Brar said I saw an advertisement about the academy in a newspaper. “Before that, I didn’t have any idea about basketball. I just came and fell in love with the game,” he said.
Dhaliwal said: “Having unflinching aim was most important in life. I used to tell this to Satnam as well that the country he was going to play in had a different culture, but he had to be focused only on the game.”
He said two more players, Arshdeep Bhullar and Rajvir Tanda, had been selected to play in a three-on-three international tournament in Japan.
