Green Force, voluntary wing of the U Turn Foundation, celebrated Holi with residents of the Prem Dham old age home on Nehru Road here today.

The usually sober atmosphere at Prem Dham turned colourful as members of Green Force and inmates of the home played Holi with each other. The old age home inmates appreciated the use of organic colours prepared by the members of Green Force and their door-to-door campaign to spread the message of ‘Holi ke rang: Paryavaran ke sang’ and dissuade people from using chemical colours.

Green Force started ‘Green Holi campaign from Nehru Colony on February 21 by distributing free organic colours among old age home inmates. They also gave them the message to save water and avoid the use of harmful organic colours. They have also interacted with people living on the banks of the Rispana river.

Espousing the cause of herbal Holi, Green Force members had in 2012 decided to spread awareness about the harmful effects of chemical colours. Since then they are advising people to prepare all colours at home using natural ingredients. They prepare colours using organic raw materials such as turmeric powder, henna, red sandalwood, flour, and gram flour.
