Chandigarh, March 27

Nine persons were acquitted in a case of prostitution today. The FIR into the case was registered in June 2006 when the cops laid a trap and send its three constables as dummy customers to expose the racket going on in Sector 35. The constables, as per the plan, acted as customers and unfolded the prostitution racket. It was found that the trade was going on for several months but the case could not be proved against them in the court.

Mohammad Kalam, a resident of Burail; Sanjay and Nazim, residents of Sector 45; a woman resident of Mohali; Rajinder, a resident of Sector 35; Dayanand, a resident of Mandi; Shashi Mukhi and Ram Kumar, both residents of Burail, and one more person were acquitted.
