The National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to grant 20 per cent interim relief in favour of the state government employees and pensioners.
Subash Shastri, president of NMC, said the salaried class and pensioners were faced with soaring prices, especially those of essential commodities.
The state government had now decided to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission from April 1, 2018, since there was no chance for payment of DA installment in favour of its employees and pensioners. The government employees and pensioners should be immediately paid interim relief and an announcement in this regard should be made in the current Budget session of the state legislature so that confusion and uncertainty among them could come to an end, he said.
Shastri appreciated the policies and pro-people programmes of the coalition government, headed by Mehbooba Mufti, and urged them to allot a separate wage head in each department so that the 61,000 daily rated workers could get their monthly salary regularly till their regularisation. “This interim measure will go a long way to address their financial problems,” he added.
Rajan Babu Khajuria, BS Jamwal, Jaipal Sharma, Pardeep Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Vijau Bhagat, Bhupinder Singh, Ramesh Sharma, Sunil Kochar, Swarn Bhagat and others were present on the occasion.
