Chandigarh, February 3
To make public-dealing more convenient, the Chandigarh Police announced to start the instant complaint logging Internet kiosk (I-CLICK) service from February 6.
The service will help residents in lodging their grievances without visiting their respective police stations in Chandigarh. As a pilot project, the machine is installed inside the ATM booth of HDFC Bank in Sector 22-C and will be inaugurated on Friday.
The complainant under this facility will get an acknowledgement slip along with an SMS alert (in case a complainant provides a mobile number) and the service will be available round the clock. The complaint written at the kiosk can be recorded in the form of an audio file or in written form.
The I-click machine will scan the written complaints .In a case that needs an urgent attention; the emergency button in the machine will alert the police to contact the complainant immediately. The emergency button is directly linked with the police Control Room. Thereafter, the lodged complaint will be submitted to the SSP office and from there it will be marked to the office concerned of the respective unit.
After securitising the complaint, an FIR under relevant sections will be registered, if needed. After the pilot project, the service will be provided in various sectors of Chandigarh. A source in the Police Department also maintained that a special proposal to install such machines in the periphery areas across Chandigarh was also on the pipeline of the department.
While the UT police are claiming to launch the service for the first time in the country, similar service is already there in Odhisa, especially dedicated for entertaining grievances of women.
