A valedictory function was organised on the concluding day of the seven-day NSS camp at Khalsa College for Women. The function started with Shabad Gayan ‘Deh Shiva Var Mohe Eh’ and NSS song “Uthe Samaj ke Liye, Uthe Uthe, Jagein Samaj ke Liye Jagein Jagein”.
A colourful cultural programme was presented on the occasion. A skit on women empowerment was also performed. The bhangra group enthralled the audience. Students presented their views on health, public sanitation and personal hygiene. One of the programme officers read out the camp’s report. Prizes were given away to the winners of various competitions.
Principal Dr Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts made by NSS volunteers and congratulated the winners and programme officers.
A programme was chalked out for the camp with the theme ‘Health, Public Sanitation and Personal Hygiene’. A workshop on physiotherapy was organised by Dr Manpreet Basoor and Dr Ashima from Movewell Clinic. She taught various exercises such as neck-strain exercises knee-pain exercise, foot and joint pain. She also advised to sit and stand in appropriate posture to avoid several ailments. A session on ‘The Art of Living’ was conducted by Anshuman Khullar and his team.
The seven-day camp of AS College, Khanna, saw participation of 146 volunteers. The camp was held at Lalouri Kalan village where volunteers took part in the cleanliness drive. They also took part in the peace march. —TNS
