The ‘Festival of Innovation’ is a unique initiative by the President to recognise and admire innovations by students. The NIF, working under the Department of Science and Technology; Government of India, has been organising the exhibition since 2010 in which the President of India accords recognition and admiration after examining the science models of the grassroots level innovators. The exhibition has become a national celebration of creativity and innovation.
This year, 60 students were shortlisted to present their science models from across the country. Their innovative models had been selected under the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) programme of the Government of India. INSPIRE is an innovative programme sponsored and managed by the Department of Science and Technology to attract talent to science. The basic objective of INSPIRE is to communicate to the youth the excitement of creative pursuit of science and attract talent to the study of science at an early age.
