One held in fraud case

The police arrested Gurdip Singh, a member of Wembley Cooperative House Building Society at Sector 91, here, in connection with the case of embezzlement of Rs 12 crore by certain members of the management of the society.
Giving information, Inspector Pawan Kumar, Station House Officer of the Sohana Police Station, said Gurdip Singh was a close relative of the society president Savdeep Singh and his father Jaswinder Singh, who were also said to be accused in the case.
The case in this regard was registered under Sections 420 (cheating), 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant or by banker, merchant or agent), 465 (forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (Using as genuine a forged document or electronic record), 167 (public servant framing an incorrect document with intent) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) at the Sohana police station in October 2014.
The police said the society’s management committee had allegedly committed a fraud of Rs 12 crore by misappropriation of funds of allottees, showing losses and tampering with record.
The 25-member Wembley Cooperative House Building Society project began in 2005 and construction started in 2006. Meanwhile, Gurdip Singh was produced before a local court, which has sent him to two-day police remand.
