The Oriya Samaj would celebrate the 80th Utkal Divas at the ONGC community centre on April 1 on the occasion of anniversary of formation of the state of Orissa. This was stated by the president of Oriya Samaj, SC Satapathy, while he was addressing mediapersons here today.
Satapathy said, "Chief Minister Harish Rawat will inaugurate the event, in which the annual book of Oriya Samaj, ‘Parijaat’, will be released. Cultural performances of Oriya kids under direction of Guru Prabhu Datt and Sadhna Lenka will be the main attractions of the event."
Satapathy also demanded declaration of Utkal Divas as a cultural festival of the state.
RK Mehar, vice president, Mayadhar Sahoo, secretary and Devasish Tripathi, cultural secretary, were also present during the conference.
