The Music and Theatre Workshop of the Christian Medical College added yet another feather to its cap by enacting Oscar Wilde’s comedy The Importance of Being Earnest.

The play, under the patronage of Dr Abraham G Thomas, had Dr Mariya Jacob as its director, Melbin Monachen as the producer and Dr Dhruv Ghosh as the faculty advisor.

According to Dr Mariya Jacob, “A small team of medical students rose to the occasion and became actors, fashion designers, seamstresses, team leaders, painters, artists, sound engineers and a lot more. This play has been all about being a family and making a wonderful memory.”

The play dealt with people trying to escape their social responsibilities by hiding behind a facade of fictious personae and the comical confusion that ensues.

With their perfect comic timing, the cast, which included Sajeev as John Worthing, Atulya as Gwendolen, Jurgen as Algernon, and Anisha as Cecily, had the audience roaring with laughter.

A talented team of students worked tirelessly for over a month to pull off this spectacular performance.
