Pantnagar varsity students excel in JRF examination

Students of Pantnagar University have once again proved their mettle in the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) examination conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, for admission to postgraduate courses of all state agricultural universities of India. Students of the College of Home Science of the university have appeared among the first six positions in the All-India merit.

Sakshi Bisht from the Home Science Extension Department secured the first position while Anusha Mishra, Himani Joshi and Jyoti Semwal got the second, third and sixth positions, respectively, in the merit. Gunjan Tiwari, Priyanka, Babita Tomar, Aarti Nautiyal, Renu Joshi, Ekta Kapri, Neha Goswami, Jyoti Rawal, Tejaswita Aditi and Pooja Arya also passed the examinations.

The students of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences of the university secured 22 positions among the first 100 merit positions. A total of 37 students appeared from the college. Jyotsna Bhatt secured the second position in the Veterinary Science group while Akanksha Tiwari, Supriya Yadav, Monu Karki, Nisha Bisht, Pallavi Deol, Garima Pandey, Archna Shroff, Binish Aslam, Mayank Maithani, Pankaj Gunwant, Kanika Tiwari and Ashvina Madhwal secured the 26th, 32nd, 41st, 43rd, 51st, 55th, 57th, 66th, 67th, 78th, 85th and 87th positions, respectively.

In the Animal Science group, Farhein Tahir, Pragya Joshi, Namit Mohan Bijalwan, Megha Verma, Akash Uniyal and Sunil Pant got the 16th, 23rd, 27th, 32nd, 44th and 77th positions, respectively, while in the Animal Biotechnology group, Kanchan Singh, Alok Khandari and Deepankar Bisht secured the 7th, 11th and 18th positions, respectively, at the country level.

Dr Mangala Rai, Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, congratulated the students and exhorted them to keep the university’s flag flying high. Dean, Home Science, Dr Rita Singh Raghuvanshi, and Dean, Veterinary Science, Dr GK Singh also appreciated the hard work of the students and able guidance of the faculty members.
