Chandigarh: As part of the World Photography Week celebrations, the Photography Club of Tribune Model School in association with Sculpteye, organised a photography competition and workshop on “portraiture”.

Chandigarh: As part of the World Photography Week celebrations, the Photography Club of Tribune Model School in association with Sculpteye, organised a photography competition and workshop on “portraiture”. Students, parents and teachers interacted with eminent photographers Navneet Saxena and Jagjit Singh.

Annual event

An annual event, ‘The Orator’, was organised by the English Department of St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School to chisel the rhetoric skills of the students. As many as 14 schools from the tricity took part in the event.

Educational trip

St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, students, principal and teachers attended an educational trip to NASA. Their stipulation at the Kennedy Space Centre intensified their information about rockets and battle for survival in space.

World Humanitarian Day

World Humanitarian Day was observed at Stepping Stones Senior Secondary School, Sector 37. The young minds celebrated the day by paying tributes to the freedom fighters.

Best-out-of-waste competition

A best-out-of-waste competition was held at the premises of Adarsh Public School, Sector 20. The hidden talent of students reflected in different kinds of models made by them.

Visit to Military Station

Students of Class I from Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, visited the Military Station, Chandimandir.

Raksha Bandhan celebrated

Raksha Bandhan was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour by students of Diploma in Pre-School Education at DAV Model School, Sector 15. The teacher trainees participated in a rakhi-making competition and showcased their creativity. Principal of the school Anuja Sharma expressed her happiness at the creativity and skills displayed by the students. Sweety Bahl, DPSE in charge, encouraged the teacher trainees to learn how to organise and celebrate festivals in schools.

Declamation competition

A science declamation competition was organised by Sacred Souls’ School, Gharuan, Chandigarh, for classes VI and VII on various topics. Students were appreciated by judges on the basis of content, expression and confidence.

Basketball meet

A two-day Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti Cluster-Level Girls Basketball Meet concluded at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sector 25 (West). The school bagged the first position among the U-19 and U-14 categories.

Rakhi-making competition

An inter-class rakhi-making competition was organised for students of classes VI-VIII at Govt High School, Sector 41. Rakhis made by children were a fusion of tradition and style.

Shishu Niketan Model Sr Sec School

A rakhi-making competition was organised for students of classes I-V at Shishu Niketan Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22.

Educational trip

Students of Government Senior Secondary School, Raipur Khurd, were taken to a one-day educational trip to the Science City and Kalpana Chawla planetarium at Kurukshetra. The purpose of the trip was to expose students to the world of science and scientific inventions.

Raksha Bandhan was celebrated at Government Middle School, Sector 26. Students participated in different activities such as rakhi-making and thali decorations.

Panchkula: With a view to expressing their gratitude towards the defence forces, preschoolers from Eurokids, Sector 9, on Friday celebrated Raksha Bandhan with Army jawans on the school campus. Most of the children dressed up in Army uniforms welcomed the invited jawans with ‘tilak’ and garlands and tied rakhi on their wrists. Later, the children performed on patriotic and traditional Indian songs to mark the day.
