Chandigarh, December 19

In their endeavour to expose tricity audience to the verve and vitality of the vibrant folk theatre of other regions, the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi and Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, had organised the three-day CSNA Traditional Folk Theatre Festival-2016 at Tagore Theatre.

After the staging of a musical play ‘Babu Ji’ in ‘nautanki format’ on day one, the Sattriya Kendra Gauhati Group presented another 500-year-old tradition of folk theatre through play ‘Ram Bijay’. The play depicted a glimpse of the Ramayana by 28 actors and musicians.

The festival concludes tomorrow with the staging of a Rajasthani play, Janwai Ji Pawana, besides folk songs and dances of Rajasthan.
