Ludhiana: A poetry recitation competition was organised for the tiny-tots of Guru Gobind Singh Public School. In all, 400 students from Nursery to Class V participated in the event. The competition was judged by Swapandeep Kaur and Raman Gutam. The students recited conventional nursery rhymes on topics such as nature, mother, teacher and unity. Principal Manjit Kaur said the competition was aimed at bringing out the recitation skills of the students and develop among them a taste for poetry.

TAGORE PUBLIC SCHOOL

Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex (LSSC) Inter School Poem Recitation Competition was organised at Tagore Public School. In all, 17 schools participated in the event. The competition was divided into three categories: classes III to V (Hindi), classes VI to VIII (Punjabi) and classes IX to XII (English). Three students from each school recited poems in three different languages. The chief guest, Darshan Singh Shivalik, highlighted the importance of such competitions and announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the school. In the English category, the first prize was won by Arsheen Kaur of Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar. Mallika of BCM Senior Secondary School, won the second prize. Jashandeep Singh BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School was third. In the Punjabi category, Rachreet Kaur of DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, was first. The second prize was won by Navrit of BCM Senior Secondary School. The third prize was shared by Tarun Kumar of GGN Public School, Rose Garden and Dhanpreet of Tagore Public School, Aggar Nagar, Ludhiana. In the Hindi category, Shreya Gaur of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar; Pushkar of Tagore Public School, Aggar Nagar, and Hardhik Rawat of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, were the top three winners.

NTSE WORKSHOP

An orientation workshop on the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) was organised at BCM School, Shastri Nagar. The objective of the workshop was to inform the students about the importance of NTSE. More than 350 students and teachers attended the workshop. The students were made aware of the advantages of taking the test.

FATHER’S DAY

Ryan International School celebrated Father’s Day. Students of classes I, II and III made badges for their fathers. Principal Gurpal Anand admired the students’ efforts. —TNS
