Mohali, January 27
The Mohali police arrested Davinder Singh Gill, alias Davinder Thapa, from Chandigarh in case of fraud of property at Phase IX, here today.
The police have arrested Thapa in the case, which was registered at the Phase 1 police station against him, his partner Sumedh Gulati and employee Dhanraj under Sections 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120 B of the IPC.
The complaint in this regard was made by a Panchkula-based woman (who had also registered another case of rape against Thapa) in 2014 in which she alleged that Thapa had fraudulently grabbed a one-kanal kothi at Phase IX by impersonating his employee Dhanraj as NK Dua, the owner of the property. “Thapa first furnished false documents to give false identity to Dhanraj and then got the property registered in his and his partner’s (Gulati) name”, alleged the complainant. The complaint was made in 2014 but the case in this regard was registered on January 8 following two probes by SP-level officers and legal opinion by district attorney (legal). It is to be noted that Thapa’s name had surfaced in the properties fraud case involving several IAS and IPS officers of Punjab. Thapa’s wife Kriscpy Khaira had also made a complaint of molestation against Punjab Police Inspector General Gautam Cheema on which a case was registered against him at the Mataur Police Station in 2014. Today after the arrest, Thapa was presented before the local court, which remanded him in police custody for three days.
