Protest against Konkan Railway

Up in arms against Konkan Railway and the government, residents under the leadership of MLC Jugal Kishor Sharma held a demonstration yesterday and highlighted grievances.

Raising slogans, the protesters demanded employment, proper wages, compensation and payment of overtime to local staff.

They alleged that the Railways was dumping its waste material near the tunnel site at Didi-Morh in Katra.

Stone and other waste material from the dumping site had hit houses a number of times and damaged the structures, they alleged.
