PU Syndicate approves appointment of Prof Dinesh Gupta as DUI

The Panjab University (PU) Syndicate today approved the appointment of Prof Dinesh Kumar Gupta as the new Dean University Instructions (DUI). Dr Gupta works at the University Business School (UBS), Panjab University.
Meanwhile, the Syndicate deferred the issue of granting a temporary affiliation to newly proposed Multi-Disciplinary Professional College, Attam Pahad, Garacharma Village, Andaman and Nicobar, Port Blair, till the approval from the Union Government.
The Syndicate also approved the proposal to appoint Prof Sanjeev Puri as the honorary director of the Centre for Industry Institute Partnership Programme (CIIPP) for three years. Professor Puri is working at the biotechnology branch of the UIET, PU. He has three patents and has presented papers in many national and international conferences.
The PU Syndicate approved guidelines for the junior research fellows (JRFs) pursuing PhD, as per which they would be required to be present in the university department or an approved research centre for a minimum period of 36 weeks.
The Syndicate gave its ‘in-principle’ approval for the creation of position of the Associate Dean, Students Welfare.
Membership of community centre made compulsory
The PU Syndicate approved the proposal to make the membership of the staff club and community centre compulsory for all university teaching and non-teaching staff. The membership fee will be Rs 100 per month and Rs 75 per month for employees getting pay in pay band 4 and pay band 3, respectively. It will be Rs 50 per month for rest of the employees.
Now, change your address for Senate poll till June 22
It also approved a change in the schedule for the printing of preliminary register and the change of address of voters for the Senate elections. The preliminary register will be available on June 10 and the existing voters can change their address till June 22.
