A day after Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (Punsup) Managing Director PS Shergill proceeded on leave amid ongoing wheat procurement boycott by agency's district managers (DMs), Chairman Ajay Pal Singh Mirankot today transferred 12 of the 19 DMs and posted them at new stations "in accordance with their demand".
The Chairman reversed the decisions taken by Shergill during the first 10 days since the beginning of the procurement season.
Insiders said some DMs, who were shifted back to the stations from where they were transferred out by Shergill, were at loggerheads with the MD.
"We have transferred officers in accordance with the demand put up by their union," Mirankot told The Tribune.
"In MD's absence, the chairman is authorised to issue transfer orders of the district managers. The only purpose behind these transfers is to ensure that the procurement goes on smoothly in each district," he added.
Shergill had issued transfer orders of several DMs on April 1. He could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
