Quiz on information technology held

Ludhiana: The students chapter of the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) of Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, organised an inter-college information technology quiz. Eight teams participated in the quiz. Five teams were shortlisted for the final quiz. Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, MTS Memorial College, SCD Government College, Guru Nanak Girls College, Arya College, Civil Lines, Government College for Boys, KCW Civil Lines and KIMT, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, participated in the event. Team from SCD College, Ludhiana, comprising of Shreyans Jain, Sarbaljot Singh, Anmol Rattan Arora stood first and team from the Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women comprising of Sheetal, Kirandeep Kaur, Ashna from bagged the second prize. Dr (Col) HS Singha congratulated the winners and participants and also told them the importance of such competitions. He exhorted the students to actively take part in more such competitions in future to gain confidence in order to enhance their knowledge in the field of computer applications, which will go a long way to build their future careers.

Diploma in foreign trade

For the benefit of upcoming exporters, entrepreneurs and export executives, Federation of Indian Exporters Organisation (FIEO), a national trade promotion organization, set up by the Ministry of Commerce, and PCTE - an academic institution engaged in developing professional entrepreneurial and executive skills, will shortly be starting a six month Diploma Programme in Foreign Trade, according to representatives of FIEO.

Cosmetology session

Volunteers were made aware about cosmetology during a NSS camp at SDP College. NSS volunteers were divided into 5 groups. They were provided training in make-up, hair do, nail art, cleansing and facial. NSS volunteers participated with great enthusiasm and got practical knowledge. In the afternoon session, a rally on prevention of dengue was organised. The day concluded with National Anthem.

NSS camp organised

An NSS camp was organised at GCG Ludhiana. Principal Dr Mohinder Kaur Grewal was the chief guest. The main motto of the camp was to promote hygiene and cleanliness. Dr Grewal said hygiene and cleanliness is very important for better living and better health. She said students should devote time towards the cleanliness and hygiene at the college campus daily. She also said she was happy that camp was being organised by the volunteers and in-charges of NSS. Dr Baljit Kaur assured the principal that volunteers of NSS will work hard for the cleanliness of the campus. Sarita proposed the vote of thanks to the chief guest.

Social awareness rally

A seven-day NSS Camp was organised at Gobindgarh Public College, Alour, Khanna. Principal Dr Neena Seth Pajni motivated volunteers to participate in the activities meant for the welfare of the society with full fervor. After the inaugural ceremony, a social awareness rally was taken out at Chattarpura village by NSS volunteers. The purpose of the rally was to sensitise the residents against the social evils like female foeticide, drug addiction and AIDS etc.

Seminar held on career opportunities

Synetic Business School organised a seminar on introduction to ERP-SAP and career opportunities. Kanwar Sumit Singh (Director) of Sam Info System was the guest speaker. He said ERP-SAP performs core corporate activates and increases customers service thus augmenting corporate image; it also helps in optimum utilisation of recourses. He added that SAP is top ERP software in the world, which was founded in Germany in 1972. Sectors like aerospace, automobile, banks, FMCG and chemicals are using this software.
