Jalandhar: A day after The Tribune highlighted that the government tagline, ‘Raj nahi sewa’ was displayed on pre-fabricated pillars of 2,000 Sewa Kendras, the district election officers got it covered with white paper. Though no such order was formally issued, the officials said the Sewa Kendra staff had been told to cover the slogan post the implementation of the code of conduct.  Deepkamal Kaur

Jarnail is a voter in Lambi; quits as MLA

Muktsar: Jarnail Singh, Aam Aadmi Party nominee from Lambi, has been enrolled as a voter in the Assembly segment. He can now contest the Assembly elections. Speaking on the phone, Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, returning officer, Lambi, said, “We have uploaded Jarnail’s details on the web portal of the Election Commission. His name will figure on the electoral rolls, entitling him to cast his vote.” Jarnail has given the address of AAP leader and Sarawan Bodla village resident Narinder Singh ‘Naati’. Meanwhile, party leader Sanjay Singh confirmed in Chandigarh that Jarnail had resigned from the Delhi Vidhan Sabha earlier this week. archit watts

Pak girlfriend on Capt’s mind: Sampla

Jalandhar: State BJP chief Vijay Sampla on Friday alleged that the reason for PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh’s “prolonged stay in Delhi is not Punjab but a Pakistani girlfriend with whom he is spending time”. “While senior leaders of other parties are spending time with workers in their constituencies, the PPCC chief is busy with his lady love,” said Sampla. Calling AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal a “corrupt leader”, Sampla challenged him to provide evidence to support his claim that around 40 lakh youths in Punjab were addicted to drugs.  tns

Kolianwali to be covering nominee for CM

Muktsar: Muktsar SAD president Dyal Singh Kolianwali is set to file nomination as a covering a candidate for CM Parkash Singh Badal from Lambi.
