Rajasthan MLA’s son dies in truck-car collision

BJP MLA Jai Narayan Poonia’s son died in an accident when the car he was travelling in collided with a truck on the Hisar-Rajgarh road at Budhsaili Mor of the district on Saturday.

The deceased Charan Singh Poonia (38) was an advocate at Rajgarh in Rajasthan. Siwani police station in charge inspector Pawan Kumar said Charan Singh and his wife Sunita were heading towards Hisar via Siwani Mandi at around 10:30am in their Maruti Ritz. A speeding truck coming from the opposite side collided head-on with the car in which the couple was travelling. Farmers working in the fields along the road rushed to the couple’s aid and reported the matter to the police. Charan who was behind the wheel died on the spot, while his wife was rushed to a private hospital in Hisar. The truck driver fled the spot leaving behind his vehicle. The deceased’s body was handed over to his family members after the postmortem conducted at Chaudhary Bansi Lal civil hospital in the evening. A case was registered against the absconding truck driver.

Woman killed in mishap

SONEPAT: A woman, Savitri (70), was killed in a road accident on the GT road near Murthal police station on Saturday. She was the sister-in-law (brother’s wife) of former Haryana DGP Ranjiv Dalal. She was on way to Chandigarh in a Maruti car when it hit the rear of a truck after the truck driver applied sudden brakes. Car driver Amit Kumar lost control and hit the truck.
