Chandigarh: The NSS wing of the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42, observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on Saturday. On the occasion, Dr Nemi Chand, Assistant Professor in Public Administration and coordinator of the PG Diploma in Cyber Crime, delivered a thought-provoking speech on the role of Sardar Patel in the national unity. As many as 400 NSS volunteers took oath of national unity.
Oath ceremony
The Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, organised an oath ceremony on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the college. The principal of the college motivated all those present on the occasion to spread unity and integrity in society.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel remembered
Patiala: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India, was remembered with reverence on the DAV College premises by the staff by paying floral tributes to him in the morning assembly on Saturday. As suggested by the CBSE, Vigilance Awareness Week was also observed on his birth anniversary, which commenced on October 26 to 31. During this week, many activities were organised such as poster-making based on the worst evil of the country i.e. corruption. Students of Class X created meaningful and aesthetically beautiful posters and depicted their views.
National Unity Day
The Department of Political Science, Khalsa College, Patiala, celebrated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as ‘National Unity Day’ according to the directions given by the Government of India - Ministry of Human Resources and the UGC. The college celebrated this day to make the students remember the valuable contribution and struggle undergone by Sardar Patel for the independence of the nation and for persuading and integrating the princely states. College principal Dr Dharminder Singh Ubha, while telling about the historical relevance of the day, said: “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is also known as the Iron Man in the history of India, was a man of peace and a person with farsightedness. He not only struggled hard for the independence of the nation but also put forth great efforts for the rehabilitation of refugees. That’s why we are celebrating his birth anniversary as National Unity Day”. — TNS
