Jammu, January 1
The Indian Dental Association’s (IDA) Jammu executive body called on Tara Singh, president, J&K State Dental Council (JKSDC), to discuss certain important issues related to dentists of the state. PN Kaul, JKSDC vice-president, was also present in the meeting.
Gautam Sharma, president, IDA Jammu, said the IDA executive body during the meeting stressed that the registration of dentists which was being renewed every year may be done away with and a scheme of renewal of registration after every five years should be adopted.
He said it was observed that it was very difficult for dental surgeons working in the government sector as well as running private clinics in far-flung areas of the state to reach Srinagar for the annual renewal of their registration.Tara Singh agreed to the demand of the IDA.
Bhupinder Singh, secretary, IDA Jammu, demanded that the method of online registration should be adopted for renewal of registration on the pattern of the Punjab State Dental Council. PN Kaul said the scheme of online registration would be adopted in due course of time as well.
It was also informed by Tara Singh that a team to inspect dental clinics would be constituted within this week and once a list of registered dental clinics was prepared by the JKSDC, only then any action could be initiated on quacks and unregistered dental clinics.
