Rewari, January 21
The Railways will launch a train service between Ahmedabad to Katra on January 25. The train will reach Katra via Palanpur, Jaipur, Rewari and Hisar from Ahmedabad.
The Ahmedabad-Katra Express would be the third new train on the Rewari line in the last 10 days. Earlier, the Railways had launched nation’s first CNG powered DEMU from Rewari to Rohtak and the Bikaner-Rewari train on January 13. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu had flagged off the trains.
“The train will leave for Katra from Ahmedabad every Sunday and reach the destination on Tuesday. It will start the return journey from Katra on Wednesday. The train will take at least 12 hours to arrive in Rewari from Ahmadabad,” said Gopal Bhati, Railway Station Superintendent, Rewari.
He said, “Though there are two express trains for Jammu from Rewari, none of them go to Katra. Commuters have to change the train from Jammu for visiting Vaishno Devi. Now, they will have an extra train to travel up to Katra directly,” he said.
“The Centre had announced this train in the Rail Budget. The booking will start at every reservation centre of the Railways from January 22,” he added.
