Roland finds superhero movies ‘silly’

Roland Emmerich, who directed The Independence Day, says that superhero movies are “silly”. He told an online news website, “When you look at my movies, it’s always the regular Joe Schmo that’s the unlikely hero. A lot of Marvel movies show people in funny suits running around. I don’t like people in capes. I find it silly when someone dons a superhero suit and flies. I don’t understand it. I grew up in Germany, that’s probably why.” —IANS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
