Rs 83 cr spent on watershed project: MLA

A district-level review meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Mid-Himalayan Watershed Development Project was held here on Saturday. Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri presided over the meeting.
During the welcome address, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Avtar Singh, who is also the Chief Project Director, gave an overview of the project. He said Rs 83 crore had been spent on the project activities during the last financial year. Addressing the meeting, Bharmouri emphasised on the need to achieve the targets of the project.
He said competent retirees would be re-engaged to meet the shortage of staff. He also reviewed the carbon credit under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Kewal Singh Pathania, vice-chairman, forest corporation, was also present at the meeting.
