SAD dares Kejriwal to spell out welfare measures for dalits

Chandigarh, March 15

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today alleged that AAP Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was "misleading" people and dared him to spell out welfare measures of his government as compared to SAD-BJP government's initiatives.

In a statement here, senior SAD leader and MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said Kejriwal is resorting to "blatant lies" with his sole aim being to garner votes and playing "dirty" politics with the sentiments of weaker sections.

Questioning the Delhi CM, the senior SAD leader asked why so suddenly has Kejriwal developed profound love for dalits whereas the weaker sections were facing hardships in the Jhuggis and hutments in the National capital.

He said various pro-poor welfare programmes - free medical treatment to blue card holders, insurance cover, 200 units of free power, Atta-Dal scheme for BPL card holders besides 5 marla plots for free housing are being implemented by Punjab Government.

Reacting to promises made by the AAP leader today at village Pirthipur in Rupnagar, he alleged Kejriwal is promising moon to people of Punjab especially dalits by pledging to form a SIT to probe alleged atrocities if AAP comes to power.

Dhindsa alleged that Kejriwal was making false promises just to garner votes keeping in mind assembly elections next year.

Dhindsa said Kejriwal should first carefully check facts before making promise of providing every facility to promote education because Punjab is already one of the top three states in the country in terms of educational infrastructure.

Dhindsa claimed that the Shivlal Doda case is being dealt with strictly in accordance with provisions of law and a SIT is already probing murder of Bhim Sen Tank at Abohar.

He expressed confidence that sensible people of Punjab won't fall into Kejriwal's trap and would not allow him to vitiate state's peaceful atmosphere. — PTI
