Ludhiana, November 4
Ludhiana Commissioner of Police (CP) Paramraj Singh Umranangal has banned the sale and breeding of magur fish in all areas falling under the jurisdiction of Ludhiana Police Commissionerate.
As per the ban orders, some anti-social people smuggle this fish from other countries for meagre financial gains. This fish preys on its own breed and also harms village ponds and animals. This fish is harmful for Indian fishes and if it gets mixed up with our natural waters, it can be really harmful for other insects and fishes living in the water bodies. So, the sale and breeding of magur fish has been banned. The ban orders have been issued under Section 144 of the CrPC 1973 (Act No 2 of 1974).
