Zeher Khurani gang targets 6 aboard train

Members of the Zeher Khurani gang targeted six passengers travelling in a train and looted their mobile phones and cash late evening yesterday.
The victims were identified as Chandan (26), Ram Kishore (45), Ram Surat (60), Narinder (22), Mukesh Kumar (23), and Surinder (35).
The police said the victim passengers had been lying on the platform from the wee hours. Earlier, other commuters mistook them for sleeping on the platform but when they did not gain consciousness for a long time, the police was informed. They were rushed to the Civil Hospital.
According to information, some of the passengers belong to Rajasthan, while two are from Fazilka.
The police suspect that three gang members made the victims sniff some poisonous substance after which they fell unconscious.
Barring Chandan, who is in a semi-conscious state, all the other passengers are still unconscious.
Chandan told the police that he was headed towards Ferozepur in the train. “Three youths met us during the journey. They made us sniff some poisonous substance. They stole Rs 8,000 from my wallet and mobile phone,” alleged Chandan.
Chandan said he could not recall when he alighted at the Ludhiana Railway Station and who assisted him.
The mobile phones, cash and luggage of the other victims is also reported missing.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) officials could not record the statements of the victim till late evening as they are yet to gain consciousness.
