Sub-Inspector Ved Prakash Thapliyal from cyber cell police station today said students should strictly avoid accepting friend’s requests on the social networking websites sent to them by unknown persons. He stated this while speaking at an awareness programme on misuse of social networking websites held at a private school here.

He said social media users should not disclose their personal identity on the social networking websites. Students should not upload their mobile phone numbers, bank account details, and names of family members on the social networking websites.

Sub-Inspector Rajeev Semwal spoke about the Information Technology Act. He said parents should keep an eye on their children on what kind of websites they browse on the internet.
