Students of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, today learnt various yoga “asanas” on the school premises during a yoga event organised by The Tribune, Jammu Bureau office, under its Tribune in Education (TIE) programme.

A special assembly was organised on the school premises wherein a large number of students from all classes did various yoga “asanas” under the guidance of Deepak Sharma, state vice head of the Patanjali Yoga Samiti.

The main aim of the programme was to add spirituality to the lifestyle of young generation. Different types of yoga “asanas” like “anulom-vilom”, “kaapalbhaty”, “surya namaskar”, etc, were practiced by the students with enthusiasm.

“Speaking on the occasion, Deepak Sharma said “Yoga is very important as it gives peace of mind and refreshes us”. He advised all students to practice yoga daily to live a healthy life.

Principal of the school Rameshwar Mengi felicitated Deepak Sharma for making students learn various postures of yoga. In his address, Mengi told the students about the importance of yoga in life and encouraged them to make yoga an important part of life to become stress-free and morally strong.
