Six parties have joined hands to form an alliance for the Assembly elections.

Trivendra Panwar, leader of the Uttarakhand Political Alliance, addressed a press conference here today. He said the Hamara Jan Manch Party, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (Democratic), Janata Dal (Secular), Janata Dal (United), Peace Party and the Uttarakhand Mool Niwas Party were part of the alliance. They would contest all 70 seats.

He said the alliance could discuss the inclusion of other parties, if interested, barring the Congress and the BJP. “We are fighting against the BJP and the Congress who have cheated the people of the state. They can’t be a part of our alliance. There is no question of including the UKD (Airy) in the alliance as it has a history of either supporting the Congress or the BJP,” he said.

He said the Uttarakhand Political Alliance was of the firm view that people must be given an alternative as they were “fed up” with the BJP and the Congress. “The national parties are known for their anti-people stance as they have promoted mafias in the state. The hill areas are still devoid of development even 16 years after the formation of the state,” he added.

JD (U) state president Prem Singh Rathore said the alliance would “surely win” in the state. “Six parties on one platform have strengthened the Uttarakhand Political Alliance,” he said.

Hamara Jan Manch Party state president Mahnmohan Lakera and Peace Party’s state president Ganesh Yadav were also present.
