Dehradun, January 18
The CPM yesterday sent 5,000 post cards addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi opposing the proposed smart city project in Dehradun.
At a joint meeting of organisations opposing the proposed Smart City project, it was also decided to stage a dharna at Deendayal Upadhyay Park on January 19 over the issue of forcible acquisition of tea garden land in Dehradun for the proposed smart city project.
Seeking the Central Government’s intervention in the matter, the speakers asserted that the Centre must reject the state government proposal to come up with smart city over a tea garden land taking into account environment considerations.
CITU state general secretary Virendra Bhandari, Kisan Sabha general secretary Kamruddin, Rajendra Purohit and Gagan Garg took part in the meeting.
