Speaker pays homage to Lord Vishwakarma

The Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal, today said Lord Vishwakarma was the founder of architecture and engineering on earth.
To pay tributes to Lord Vishwakarma, Dr Atwal appealed to the people, especially the Punjabi youth, to improve their professional skills.
He was here to address a gathering during a state-level function organised at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College here today.
Dr Atwal was the chief guest while Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and District Planning Board chairman and former minister Hira Singh Gabria were the guests of honour on the occasion.
While congratulating the people on the birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma, Dr Cheema made the most of the occasion by enlisting the achievements of the SAD-BJP government.
He said the Punjab Government was committed to providing a congenial atmosphere for trade and industry in the state.
“With the efforts of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Punjab is now supplying cheapest electricity to other states,” Dr Cheems said.
He said several welfare schemes had been started for trade and industry in the state.
Dr Cheema said promotion of skill-training across the state would be the best tribute to Lord Vishwakarma, who has inspired artisans, workers and labourers to work hard with dedication and commitment.
Hira Singh Gabria said in line with the teachings of Lord Vishwakarma, the Punjab Government had been focusing on imparting skill-training to the youth so that they might lead a life of dignity and self respect.
He said soon, a Ramgarhia bhawan would be constructed in the city.
Industrialists Sukhdyal Singh Basant, SS Bhogal, Bhupinder Singh, Subhash Lakra, Manjit Singh Khalsa, Baljit Singh Kalsi, Ashwani Goyal, Raghbir Singh Sohal, Surinder Singh Jagdev, Harmanjit Singh Namdhari, Neeraj Satija, Harbans Singh, Gaurav Munjal, Harmel Singh Kular, Dalbir Singh Dhiman, Gurmukh Singh Rupal, Rajinder Singh Sarhali, Manjit Singh Kalsi and Surinder Singh Chhatwal were honoured on the occasion.
MLA Ranjit Singh Dhillon, BJP district president Ravinder Arora, industrialist Gurmit Singh Kular and others addressed during the programme.
Dalit Vikas Board, Punjab, chairman Vijay Danav, Punjab BC Commission vice-chairman Nirmal Singh, former minister Jagdish Singh Garcha and SGPC member Kanwalinder Singh Thekedar were other prominent persons present on the occasion.
