Special assembly
Chandigarh: To create awareness about the importance of the ozone layer and the ozone depletion substances, a special assembly was organised to celebrate International Ozone Preservation Day by AKSIPS Smart School, Sector 45. Students displayed placards carrying messages to quit plastic and products that contain CFC. Students from classes IX and X prepared a PPT to raise awareness regarding environmental changes. A green corner was also set up at the school.
World Ozone Day
MDAV School celebrated World Ozone Day. The celebration was intended to spread awareness about the depletion of ozone layer and search for solutions to preserve it. On the behalf of Eco-Club activity, a rangoli-making competition and declamation were held.
Lemonade Day
Adarsh Public Smart School, Sector 20-B, celebrated Lemonade Day on the campus for classes I and II. The students brought lemons from home and learnt the process of making lemonade with their teachers. They were made aware of the benefits of drinking lemonade in summers. The students relished the drink.
Aadar Samman Day
Panchkula: Shishu Niketan Public School, Sector 5, Mansa Devi Complex, celebrated Aadar Samman Day by paying warm regards to grandparents. Grandparents of students were invited who shared their experiences, sang songs, cracked jokes and participated in games with enthusiasm. Children staged a play displaying the role of grandparents. School principal Ranjna Bakshi thanked them for their presence and contribution to the society.
Show and tell competition
Mohali: A show and tell competition was held in the Montessori wing of Ryan International School. The show was based on the theme, “Fruits”. Children came dressed up as various fruits. They brought props related to the same. Students spoke a few lines on the related topic. The activity proved beneficial for students as it helped them improve their oratory skills.
Student brings laurels
Sri Sukhmani International School, Dera Bassi, was in limelight when Prabhjot Singh, a student of Class XII (commerce), participated in the 14th national-level tae kwon do championship held in Anandpur Sahib. Prabhjot brought laurels to the school by winning a cash prize of Rs 20,000 given by Madan Mohan Mittal, Sports Minister of Punjab. Chairman Prof Avtar Singh and director Kanwaljeet Kaur congratulated him. Principal Poonam Sharma appreciated him for his talent and motivated him.
Hindi Diwas celebrated
GGSVM School, Ratwara Sahib, celebrated Hindi Diwas was celebrated in the school. Various competitions such as slogan-writing, poster-making, poem recitation, speeches and paper-reading were held. Students wrote beautiful slogans that depicted respect and love for Hindi. Award-winning slogans were displayed on the school campus. Beautiful poems were recited by students. Principal Ritu Oberoi said no doubt spoken English was the need of the hour and status symbol too, but Hindi was the identity of a Hindustani and, therefore, it should be practiced in day-to-day conversation. — TNS
