Emerging Bollywood singer Gaurav Sharma, who is in Mussoorie to promote his music video album “Tu pyar hai mera”, said Uttarakhand had some best locales for film shooting and the government should promote such locations to boost tourism and generate employment.

Gaurav Sharma, a radio jockey (RJ) and emerging Bollywood singer, speaking to The Tribune in Mussoorie, said he was fortunate to witness snowfall at Dhanaulti, a tourist destination near Mussoorie, yesterday. He said his first song had been filmed in Goa but after witnessing the beauty of Dhanaulti, he was planning to shoot his remaining album at Dhanaulti.

Gaurav said the state government should come out with the directory of locations and develop infrastructure, road connectivity and make arrangements for heavy equipment used in film making for the benefit of producers. He said Uttarakhand had all resources to emerge as the most sought-after destination.

Gaurav, who draws inspiration from legendary Bollywood singer Kishore Kumar, said he was attracted to music since his childhood and took part in singing competitions at the school level. He said his parents initially were not in favour of his joining music industry but after completing his engineering, he thought of pursuing the career in music.

Gaurav said he has worked for All-India Radio jockey as RJ and had presented several programmes at the national level and got the opportunity to interact with several artistes during that period. He said he had decided to come out with his own music album “Tu pyar hai mera.”

He also runs an NGO Astitva and has worked with Tihar inmates and helped in learning various traits of music. He said it was a memorable moment when an inmate said that he had reformed due to the presence of music in his life, added Gaurav.

Speaking on the Winterline Carnival celebrations, he said it was a good idea but more publicity was needed to such festivals as a few know about it outside the state. He said it would be indeed a great pleasure to perform his songs in front of a large audience in Mussoorie during the carnival.

Gaurav is preparing to come out with another music album consisting of eight songs and hopefully it will be filmed in Mussoorie.

Gaurav after completing his mechanical engineering from Mumbai went to Jaipur and got trained in various classical and western instruments and then graduated from Prayag Sangeet Vishvavidyalaya.
