The state has suffered a loss of Rs 628 crore in the current monsoon due to heavy rain and flash floods.
This was stated by Rajinder Rana, vice-president of the Himachal Pradesh Disaster Management Board, while addressing a press conference here today.
He said last year the state suffered a loss of Rs 832 crore and the estimate was submitted to the Union Government, but it released a relief of Rs 134 crore against the estimated loss.
“The Centre has released a huge amount of relief fund for other states, including Jammu and Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh, but it is unfortunate that the Centre is neglecting people of Himachal Pradesh,” he said.
He said last year farmers of the state suffered a loss of Rs 353 crore, but the Centre did not release any relief fund for the state.
Rana is also the chairman of the Sarv Kalyankari Sanstha (SKS), an NGO.
He said the Sarv Kalyankari Sanstha would celebrate its 14th annual function in Hamirpur on October 10. He said this year the function would be dedicated to the youth and all those who had excelled in different fields, including art and culture, sports and academics.
