As part of the week-long 521st birth anniversary celebrations of 15th century saint Shri Chandra Bhagwan, Shri Panchayati Akhada Bada Udasin saints today donated over Rs 1 lakh to social organisations.
Kothari Mahant Das Maharaj, along with Mahant Jayendra Muni, Mahant Prem Das, Mahant Niranjan Das and Mahant Damodar Sharan Das visited Shri Ram Krishan Param Hans Mission Hospital at Kankhal where they handed out a cheque for Rs 51,000 to hospital spiritual head Swami Nityashuddhanand Maharaj.
Mahant Mohan Das said the amount would be spent on the treatment of poor patients.
Akhada saints also gave a cheque for Rs 21,000 to Lucknow-based social organisation ‘Kalyan Karoti’, which has been working for eradication of eye ailments and support physically challenged people.
Saptsarovar-based Swami Nityanand Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir management was also given a cheque for Rs 21,000 for providence of fees of poor children.
Principal of the school Ashok Chauhan thanked the Akhada saints for the funding.
Mahant Rajendra Maharaj said the tradition of donating money during Shri Chand Bhagwan’s birth anniversary was started by late Kothari Mahant Rajendra Das Maharaj.
Warm clothes and blankets are also distributed among the poor and needy by the Akhada during winters.
Shri Panchayati Akhada Bada Udasin saints, during the ongoing Maha Kumbh at Nasik-Triyambakeshwar, also donated tri-cycles to handicapped people.
At the conclusion of the birth anniversary function of Shri Chandra Bhagwan, various saints remembered him at Jagat Ram Udasin Ashram.
Maha Mandaleshwar Swami Harichetnanand Maharaj, Swami Shyam Sunder Das Shastri, Sahaj Prakash, Suresh Muni, Swami Gopal Muni, Swami Shantanand Shastri, Dr Ganga Das Udasin, Baba Bachan Singh Bhurewale, Prem Das, Dinesh Das, Chidvilasanand, Acharya Hariharanand and saints from various states, including Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttarakhand shed light on the philosophy and teachings of Shri Chand Bhagwan.
