NRI murder: PO surrenders in Gurdaspur
Batala, October 1
Proclaimed Offender (PO) Yadvinder Singh Bhullar, who was involved in Canadian NRI Gurinder Singh Gill’s murder case, has surrendered in a Gurdaspur court.
The crime was committed in broad daylight in the bustling court complex here in 2012. Batala Senior Superintendent of Police Harpreet Singh confirmed this and added that the police would soon bring Bhullar back to the city to face trial in the murder case on a production warrant.
On September 9, 2012, the Batala police had booked six persons in the case. Yadvinder Bhullar was named the main accused and his brother Rajbir Singh Bhullar, a former Municipal Councillor (MC) of Batala, was named a co-accused. The crime had taken place barely 50 yards away from the Batala SSP’s residence. A day after the murder, Congressmen demanded the suspension of the then SHO of Batala city police station Parladh Singh. He was suspended for “dereliction of duty,” but ten days later, he was reinstated. — TNS
