Nazeer Ahmed is VC, SKUAST, Kashmir

Governor NN Vohra, who is also the Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir, has appointed Nazeer Ahmed, Director, ICAR - Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar, as the Vice Chancellor of the university.

The decision was made after consultations with the Pro-Chancellor.

The Vice Chancellor has been appointed for a period of five years or until he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, with effect from the date he takes over the charge, an official said.

Nazeer Ahmed, a well known horticulturist, had earlier served the SKUAST-K for nearly 22 years. He has been associated with ICAR - Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar, for the past eight years.

Nazeer Ahmed has got Masters and PhD degrees in horticulture (olericulture) from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He has also undergone training at several national and international organisations.

With a research experience of over three decades, many of Nazeer’s papers have been published in reputed national and international journals.

While appointing Nazeer Ahmed as the Vice Chancellor of the SKUAST, Kashmir, the Governor expressed hope that he would maintain the obtaining momentum and further enhance the teaching, research and academic activities in the university.

The Governor also thanked outgoing VC Tej Pratap for his contribution to the institution. — TNS
