Bhiwani, November 3
A man today committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at Ashok Colony after allegedly being forced by a financier.
Ishwar Nagpal worked as a labourer in a water camper distribution company.
Praveen Rani, wife of the deceased, told the police that Lakhan Ram, a local financier, barged into their house yesterday and threatened her husband to either return the loan or face the dire consequences.
“My son Vicky had taken a loan of Rs 2 lakh from Lakhan Ram and he was pressuring my husband to either return the money or transfer our house property to him,” she said.
She said her husband had left a suicide note in which he narrated the cause of the death. Family members later laid a blockade at the Ghantaghar chowk here today and demanded registration of a criminal case against Lakhan Ram.
ASI Chandgi Ram said they were yet to receive a written complaint, but the police had visited the spot and the incident appeared to be a case of abetment to suicide.
