MDDA collects Rs 65 lakh as penalty

The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) collected over Rs 65 lakh in a compounding camp organised at its office. A total of 117 cases were taken up for consideration at the camp and a revenue of over Rs 65 lakh in the form of penalty was collected. Meanwhile, MDDA secretary PC Dumka said the authority would shortly start a campaign against illegal constructions in the region.
3,991 trees to be felled
A total of 3,991 trees are expected to be felled during shifting of a high tension line in the Rishikesh region for the proposed Rishikesh-Karanprayag railway line. All trees fall in the Rishikesh range of the state Forest Department. Most the trees to be felled are eucalyptus, sagaon and khari.
