Mohiniattam dancer Dr Neena Prasad today mesmerised students of the Bajaj Institute of Learning and Vocational Training as she brought alive the ‘samudra manthan’ episode on stage.

The dancer established a connection with the speech and hearing impaired students through her synchronised gesture-based dance movements.

More than 50 hands waved in the air conveying their appreciation at the end of the dance recital.

At the beginning of her dance recital, Neena made a common cause with the students saying, “As you convey your thoughts through gestures, in the same manner, I also rely heavily on gestures to convey my thoughts and feelings to the audience,” she said.

Neena is an academician and runs two schools dedicated to Mohiniattam. Earlier, the dancer was welcomed by Amul Kapoor, institute director, and faculty members.
