The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) today announced the winners of the Best Book Award-2014, carrying a cash prize of Rs 51,000, citation, memento and a shawl each in various languages spoken in the state.
The awards will be presented at a function later.
The announcement of the award was made by secretary of the academy Aziz Hajini at a press conference here today after the recommendation of adjudicators was approved by the Governor NN Vohra in his capacity as the president /patron of the academy.
Announcing the winners of the coveted literary award, Hajini said the award in Dogri language would be given to Om Goswami for “Rang Bakhre Bakhre”, in Kashmiri to Mushtaq Ahmad Mushtaq for his work “Aakh”, in Urdu to SS Anand Lehar for “Naam Dev”, in Pahari to Nisar Rahi for his book “Dhund”, in Gojri to Sheikh Azad Ahmad Azad for “Tatloos”, in Ladakhi to Khanpo Koncho Phandey for “Thommiyi–gSum-rTags-LAL-Dpyadpa”, in Punjabi to RS Rajan for “Taja Dhawari” and in Hindi to Raj Kumar for “Kavita Sawghav Sameeksha”.
Meanwhile, the academy has decided to quicken the process of the conferment of Best Book Award-2015.
Announcing this, the secretary of the academy said the process of conferment of awards would now be quickened so as to avoid undue procedural delay.
“From now onwards we will quicken the process of conferment of awards,” Dr Hajini said, adding that the procedure for Best Book Award-2015 was being quickened so as to avoid undue delay.
