Students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) at Ghuskani village in the district have levelled serious allegations against their teachers.
The students have alleged that their teachers leak question papers a day or so before examinations in the name of listing “important” questions. This, they said, was done to maintain “good result” of the school.
Several girl students have alleged that they were made to do domestic chores such as washing clothes and cleaning utensils at their teachers’ home. The students lamented that they lacked even the basic amenities and their repeated requests went unheard.
The matter came to light when a student raised a voice of protest against the school management recently. His parents were called to the school, but by then, other students also raised the banner of revolt.
During a visit to the school, a number of students levelled the aforesaid allegations, requesting anonymity.
“If we bring our grievances to the notice of the school authorities, we are punished by the teachers,” they maintained.
As the students’ hostels as well as teachers’ quarters are located in a walled campus, their voice is seldom heard outside the premises.
School principal DD Sharma admitted that several complaints about the misconduct of teachers had been received from the students. “The matter is being inquired into. The higher authorities are also being informed of the prevailing situation. The inquiry should be over within 15 days, following which appropriate action would be taken against whoever is found guilty,” he added.
