The employees were paid salaries for two months following instructions by Secretary, Medical Education. Salary for four months had not been paid by the institute.
With this, the staff will be paid for the remaining two months with the management saying the dues will be cleared within this month.
The strike started in February when employees were not paid salaries since November. Two weeks ago, the management had terminated 11 employees, including four faculty members who were leading the agitation. However, the terminations were revoked later on.
The striking doctors said their immediate task will be to take extra classes so that students wouldn’t suffer. The college management was also directed by the Medical Education and Research Department that no any employee who participated in the protest will not be victimised.
