Stuck Polish mountaineer dies
Dehradun, October 14
A Polish mountaineer, who was stuck at the Shivling mountain peak a few days ago, died during a rescue operation late on Thursday evening. He has been identified as Lucas John (42).
It may be recalled that two Polish mountaineers were stuck at the Shivling peak in Uttarkashi district. A joint team of the NIM and the SDRF tried hard to rescue the trapped trekkers but could not succeed due to adverse weather conditions. It managed to trace one of them in a snow cave on Wednesday but when he was being pulled out, he lost balance and fell. Later, he died.
