Two alleged police informers were shot at in the legs by suspected militants at Karimabad locality of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said on Saturday.
Shabir Ahmad Pandit, 30, and Manzoor Ahmad Pandit, 45, residents of Karimabad, were shot in the legs around 9.30 pm on Friday, a police spokesperson said.
Shabir is a cousin of Tariq Pandit, who was a close aide of slain Hizb commander Burhan Wani. Tariq is also resident of Karimabad and had surrendered to security forces last month.
Sources said both men were brought out from their houses and shot at in the open by suspected militants. Both the injured were shifted to a Srinagar hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.
